I was kind of hoping that a Vista driver, which I was using would work, and be fine. I have a Toshiba P laptop and for some reason my audio stops working conedant a couple of reboots. Luckily Intel releases drivers for the graphics chipset. Several posts I found on the internet were the same as cknexant and they reported good results using this method once a compatible driver was installed the driver update mechanism in 7 “found” a newer driver when asked to.

However a lot of Manufacturers will not release newer drivers before there is an RTM version of Windows 7, so a lot of hardware will need to be run on older drivers, which waikiiki cause performance issues. Seeing that the laptop is getting older, could be the biggest reason for no Windows 7 driver support.
